In John chapter 14 verses 12 and 13, Jesus said, most assuredly I say to you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also and greater works than these He will do because I go to my Father and whatever you ask in my name that I will do that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You know the name of Jesus grounds us in what is ultimate. His name secures us against the ever shifting temporality around us, including our own incomplete perspectives.
Speaker 0 00:01:09 Praying in his name is not a superstition like, you know, knocking on wood or avoiding cracks in the sidewalk, but it's an expression of trust in his character. Trust that we receive when we pray, as well as believe when we pray that his response, when it is not what we expect is still trustworthy. So with that in mind, pray with me Lord, we pray your strong name over our families, our friends, our churches, our communities. May your goodwill and loving intent for us all become evident. Lord, we pray that your strong name, uh, over our communities and our neighborhoods, that that we will serve, listen, and connect with those around us until we feel their concerns, empower our efforts in the name of Jesus. And Lord, we pray your strong name would be the grounding anchor among your people and in your churches, that it would be according to your name, that we fulfill the mission that you've given all of us in Jesus' name, amen.
